Hakwood - THE BRIDGE THEATRE AT BERKELEY’S ONE TOWER BRIDGE
The Bridge Theatre at Berkeley’s One Tower Bridge is a modern 900-seat theatre which overlooks the Tower Bridge and the Thames. It is also home to the London Theatre Company, established by Nick Hytner and Nick Starr who formerly ran the Royal National Theatre.
Haworth Tompkins was commissioned by the London Theatre Company, along with international staging and performance engineers Tait. Together the team has designed and developed a state of the art prefabricated modular auditorium that allows the flexibility and the latest in-stage technologies for this cutting edge theatre. They have designed a 900 seat adaptable auditorium that can respond to shows with different formats including end-stage, thrust-stage and promenade. The theatre is made of precision-engineered steel with oak finishes within a modular construction – a first of its kind.
